USA - Grand Canyon

Went to USA from 19oct to 10nov. Grand Canyon national park is one of my stops. Its my first trip to USA and its really an eye-opener :) Grand Canyon national park is indeed beautiful and inspiring...

wed when i reached south rim, it was very sunny. However, the sky looks foggy.. well, we did some hikes along the rim and took the shuttles sometimes along the hermits rest route. Tried to catch sunset at hopi point..maybe the sky is just too foggy.. can't really see the sun. Nonetheless, it was nice to just watch the canyon gradually changing its colours.. oh, it was damn cold after the sun set too!

trying to catch sunrise at mather point.. freezing cold morning.. almost can't press shutter! haha

My brother's wedding

8 october 2007 is a big day for my family. After months of preparation, from re-painting our house (yes, we did it ourselves), shifting furnitures to various wedding preparations (we choose photos together, yes whole family at the bridal shop).

I tried to take some shots though I'm not the official photographer. It was quite difficult as i find it hard to expose evenly and my flash control is not good. Also, I need to do other things as well. And due to tradition, I need to 'hide' cos I'm the eldest sibling. Anyway, i give up after a few shots when more relatives arrive at my house.

some thoughts: a good wedding photographer has to be very spontaneous and alert. Things are happening progressively. No retakes, no break. Of course, your basic photography skills must be there. Otherwsie its very hard to capture all those precious moments.

Moments at Mandarin-Oriental

Results are out! My photos didn't make it for the photocompetition "Moments at Mandarin-Oriental". Oh well, its a nice experience still :P after all, the 15 photographers were selected after a round of short-listing from the portfolio submitted and I'm glad I got to be selected to take part after all! haha

The Mandarin-Oriental hotel is very nice, especially after their renovation. I like the lounge area, very relaxing. The staff allowed us to go into their executive lounge too!I was still coughing a lot that saturday, thus i try to minimize my equipment. Didn't bring tripod. Was sort of regretting, especially everyone else using tripod. Nonetheless, I manage to get some pics i like.

I guess my weakness is still human potraits. For the competition, I didn't take much of people as well. It's more of taking the environment and the feel of the hotel.

Was quite tired after walking around, so i decide to play a bit :p prop up cushions to take this self-portrait =P

even went to swimming pool to do macro! hahaha

The sky is so beautiful that day, so much that i didn't take much macro :p below is the one i like most from this outing.

Montage 2007

The theme this year is The Unforgotten.

My entry got into the exhibition only. Already very pleased. I didn't expect to win anything to begin with :)

The winning entries are at: http://www.montage.sg/winning/

Exhibition will be along the Suntec Convention Level 2 walkway from 9th June (in lieu with the seminar)till 23th June. total of 97 prints will be exhibited. it'll be free for public to view.

There will also be another set exhibited at Bishan Community Library from 17th June. this set will be on a smaller scale as compare to the set at Suntec due to space constraints in the library.

Do support :) thanks.
